Round 3 of the SMJFL Youth Girls was heavily effected by wet and windy weather, which created exciting matches throughout.

Beaumaris JFC v Highett FC 

At Banksia Reserve, a fast start for Beaumaris proved the difference as they defeated Highett by five points. In a low scoring affair, the Sharks held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first quarter to lead by 13 points. Beaumaris would not add another goal to their two in the first quarter for the rest of the game and were held scoreless in the next two quarters. This allowed Highett to reduce the margin to five and four points at half time and three quarter time respectively. But Beaumaris scored the final point of the game in the final quarter and held on for the five-point victory. Olivia Harris and Charlotte Myer were the goal kickers for Beaumaris and Baillie De Klijn was the goal kicker for Highett.

St Bedes/Mentone AFC v Prahran JFC

St Bedes/Mentone remain undefeated and on top of the ladder, as they defeated Prahran by 30 points at Toorak Park. The Tigers held Prahran scoreless for the first three quarters which allowed them to increase the margin at each break. St Bedes/Mentone led by two points at quarter time, by 17 points at half time and 24 points at three quarter time. Prahran finally got on the scoreboard in the final quarter through their only goal but the Tigers added two more to lead by 30 points at the final siren. Maddison Wilson and Jemma Owen were the Tigers major goal kickers with two goals each, as Olivia Poole was Prahran’s lone goal kicker.

Brighton Beach JFC v Bentleigh JFC

Brighton Beach JFC got their first win of the season as they held off the fast finishing Bentleigh by five points at Brighton Beach Oval. The Kangaroos went into the quarter time break with one point lead as both sides kicked a goal apiece. Bentleigh were held scoreless in the second quarter as Brighton Beach pushed the lead out to eight points. The margin stayed at eight points as both side kicked two behinds each. The Saints were nearly able to pinch the victory in the final quarter, but Brighton Beach put enough behinds through to hold the margin at five points. Georgia Clair and Jasmine Rossiter were the goal kickers for Bentleigh.

St Peters JFC v East Brighton Vampires JFC

St Peters joined St Bedes/Mentone in the undefeated ranks as they controlled the entire match as they defeated East Brighton Vampires by 57 points at Centenary Park. St Peters got off to a flyer of a start as they got out to a 13 point lead at quarter time. The Vampires got on the scoreboard in the second as they kicked their only goal for the game, but trailed by 21 points at half time. St Peters continued their dominance for the remainder of the game as they would lead by 37 points at three quarter time and finally 57 points at the end of the last quarter. East Brighton only added one point in the final quarter. Tayla Jane Eke and Caroline Hart were the major goal kickers for St Peters adding three goals and two goals respectively.
