It was another bumper round of Under 17 football in the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL).

Here is our weekend wrap:

Division 1 –

Despite being held goalless in the final term, Ormond somehow managed to hang on for a draw against Beaumaris in a thrilling finish at E.E. Gunn Reserve. Ormond burst out the blocks with four goals to one in the first term, but could only manage three further majors for the rest of the match as Beaumaris clawed back an unlikely draw.

In the other result, Mordialloc-Braeside overcame a 23-point half-time deficit and hold Dingley to just a solitary point for a half, running away with a 19-point victory. Troy Brimble led all comers with four goals.

St Kilda City bounced back from a loss with a commanding 105-point win over South Melbourne Districts, with Matthew Mcnaughton bagging ten goals. An outstanding achievement.

In the final fixture, St Peters went down to Cheltenham at home by 38-points, left to rue a sluggish first-half in which they managed just a single goal, while outscoring the visitors in the second-half.
