The South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) have had two further alumni find their way into the AFL system via the Rookie Draft, with Sandringham Dragons pair Angus Styles and Joel Amartey being recruited by Sydney at picks 14 and 28 respectively.

Styles (East Malvern) and Amartey (Beaumaris, Ormond and Bentleigh) were tipped to be taken in the National Draft but were afforded a second-chance by the Swans in last night’s Rookie Draft.

It comes after six former SMJFL juniors were drafted by AFL clubs in last week’s National Draft:

Pick #2 – Andrew Brayshaw (Fremantle)

Junior club – Hampton Rovers

Pick #17 – Jack Higgins (Richmond)

Junior clubs – East Malvern/Ormond

Pick #23 – Will Walker (North Melbourne)

Junior clubs – East Sandringham/Hampton Rovers

Pick #36 – Charlie Constable (Geelong)

Junior club – East Sandringham

Pick #40 – Nathan Murphy (Collingwood)

Junior club – East Sandringham

Pick #68 – Hamish Brayshaw (West Coast Eagles)
