It was the battle for the top as St Peters took on Cheltenham at Meade Reserve on Sunday August 17. Both teams were in high scoring, comfortable semi-final victories to book their spot in the Grand Final, but how did they go against each other?

The first term saw St Peters struggle to make their mark. Cheltenham were also being plagued by poor scoring shots on their side of the oval, scoring 1.5 for the first quarter. The Panthers held the lead at quarter time by 11 points with the St Peters side registering no score.

In the second, St Peters kicked into gear, booting two majors and two minor scores to get themselves into the match. The Panthers were just edging in front, scoring 2.3 and holding the lead by 12 points.

After the break, St Peters had their opportunity to snatch the lead, but they couldn’t match the Panthers. With a completely dominating quarter, the Panthers scored an extra two goals to extend their lead. Facing a 24 point margin, the St Peters side needed to lift in the final to overcome the Panthers.

It was a tough quarter. St Peters put on a tremendous display as they fought to take the lead. Kicking 1.2, they were able to come within 17 points to victory. But the Panthers managed to hold on to win the victory in a tense final.

Final score:
