In the annual end-of-season fixture, the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) representative Under 17 Colts went down to the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) by 28-points in a spirited performance in Bulleen.

Leading at the last change by a point, the SMJFL were overran by YJFL in the final term, outscored by six goals to one.

Voted best afield for the SMJFL was Tomas Long of Mordialloc-Braeside, while Jake Gray (Dingley) led the goal-kicking with three majors.

The team was picked as a representation of all SMJFL clubs who nominated their representatives to take part and were pitted against the YJFL Team Of The Year.

In a short space of time, the boys quickly gelled together and produced a high-intensity performance against YJFL, pressuring a highly-skilled opposition into submission at times but unfortunately weren’t able to maintain the level.
