The SMJFL Board has, with some sadness, accepted the resignation of Jake McCauley as General Manager. Last month, Jake announced that he is relocating to Hong Kong, to pursue further career and business opportunities.

While Jake’s last day of employment hasn’t yet been finalised, his four-year tenure will come to an end towards the conclusion of the SMJFL Finals Series (end of August). The Board appreciates the early notice given by Jake, as this allows the league time to complete a thorough recruitment process for his replacement; while also providing a handover period between the new and outgoing General Manager. The Board has already started the search for a new General Manager, with the position currently advertised.

On behalf of the SMJFL Board, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Jake for his significant contribution and achievements during his time at the SMJFL, as he has worked hard to ensure that the administration delivered on its primary objective; maximising the number of kids playing football. Jake’s efforts have seen the SMJFL grow significantly on and off the field and has ensured that the league is now a highly respected and administered community football league. We look forward to working with him during his final three months in the role and seeing another successful SMJFL season delivered.

Kind regards,

Peter Ryan
