The South Metro Junior Football League wishes to advise that current SMJFL board member, Cr Felicity Frederico, has been appointed Mayor of the City of Bayside.

In her seventh year on the council. Federico will take over from Cr Laurence Evans, with James Long chosen to be her deputy. 

SMJFL Chairman Roger Teale said the league congratulated Cr Frederico on her appointment.

 

“On behalf of the SMJFL we congratulate Cr Frederico on her appointment as Mayor. Cr Frederico’s appointment is a huge fillip for junior football in the region and is a positive endorsement for the personnel on the SMJFL Board”, he said. 

“Cr Frederico has been a strong advocate for Bayside Council’s Health and Wellbeing Plan and the increased participation of children within all sports in the region and she recognises the contribution that active involvement in junior sport, by both players and parents towards our overall health and well-being in the community. We would also like to congratulate Cr James Long on his appointment as Deputy Mayor and look forward to working with him”, said Teale.

 

 

The SMJFL would like to take this opportunity to thank the previous Mayor Cr Laurence Evans, as well as all other Bayside councillors and officers, for their ongoing support of junior football in the region. This has included gaining access to Trevor Barker Beach Oval for 2014 SMJFL Grand Finals, that were enjoyed by 270 players, 40 umpires and over 1,500 spectators on the day.

The SMJFL look forward to continuing the strong relationship with Cr Frederico and wish her all the best in her new role.
