As you may be aware SMJFL has once again partnered with a very deserving charity for 2015 – The Robert Connor Dawes Fund. You will see their logo on every match ball, at every game this year!

Important brain matters  to mark in your calendar

4th – 9th of May – BrainWeek

Brain Week is a time for the young, and the young at heart, to start a conversation about brain cancer and to champion the brain with fun awareness-raising activities.

It would be great to see clubs and the greater SMJFL community use this week to talk about brain matters, and make your friends and family aware of your individual or your club’s support of the RCD Fund.

In particular the SMJFL would like to draw your attention to holding a   ‘Grey Day’ on Friday the 8th of May. Even if you cannot hold an event on this day, perhaps you could hold a ‘Grey Training Session’ for your team. The ideas are up to you!

13th September – Connor’s Run

Connor’s Run is about finding your awesomeness, celebrating courage and Connor. The run route covers the scenic bayside trail that Connor ran for rowing training, and finishes at the boat sheds on the banks for the Yarra.

Anyone can register for Connor’s run, you can enter as a team or individually, with any fundraising goal as small or as big as you like. Run at your own pace and even choose from two distances – 18.8km start Sandringham or 9.8km from St Kilda.
