South Metro Junior Football League coaching duo David Sheridan and Gerard Fehan have been recognised by AFL Victoria at the annual Community Football Awards evening.
Over 400 guests were in attendance for the event which celebrates the contribution of the state’s best grassroots umpires, NAB AFL Auskick volunteers, Australian Football Coaches Association (AFCA) recipients and the tireless work of more than 78,000 volunteers across the state.
Of the 15,000 accredited coaches in Victoria, the state’s finest were recognised across five AFCA Coach of the Year award categories- NAB AFL Auskick, Junior, Youth, Female and Senior, as well as the best Umpire Coaches.
SMJFL Director of Coaching (Interleague) David Sheridan was acknowledged for 10 years of service to NAB AFL Auskick with the Regional Service Award, while East Malvern’s Gerard Fehan was one of four state-wide nominees for the David Parkin Junior Coach of the Year.
The league is extremely proud of both individuals who have represented the SMJFL with distinction over a number of years.
