The South Metro Junior Football League’s ambassador Isabel (Izzy) Huntington is set for a roller-coaster fortnight in which she is widely touted as a potential no.1 draft pick for the AFL Women’s Draft on October 18.

The rangy left-footer heralds from East Sandringham and South Melbourne, tearing apart competition in her junior days in the then Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League male-dominated league without the girls-only teams we see today.

Despite suffering an ACL injury last year thus keeping her out of competition in 2017, Huntington remains as one of the most sought after draftees.

Balancing her Year 12 VCE, aspirations to study medicine, recovery from injury, coaching responsibilities with the SMJFL Interleague girls and all the pressure that goes with the no.1 pick tag, it’s fair to say 2017 has been a monumental year for ‘Izzy’.
