–    12 rounds into the season, and we’ve got to pay respect to Radiant Under 11 East’s Prahran Red and Radiant Under 11 Blue’s Northvale, who both made it 12 straight wins on Sunday. Can they keep their streaks going all the way to the premiership?

–    East Malvern Red may sit atop the Under 12 South ladder, but they had to work for it against East Sandringham 3 on Sunday… East Sandy had the best of East Malvern for most of the first half, but the ladder leaders rallied to win by 18 points. Quinn Olynyk was their best and Bailey Smith slotted two crucial goals.

–    Under 12 North’s Bentleigh and East Brighton Vampires were stuck on a rollercoaster of momentum in their clash on the weekend – the lead changed after every quarter of play! Willem Anderson shone for Bentleigh as they eventually came through the topsy-turvy game on top by eight points.

–    Georgia Ricardo played a key role for Cheltenham in their tight Under 13 Division 2 win over St Peters. Georgia kicked a goal, while Lawson Daniels was named Chelt’s best in the nine-point triumph.

–    Top of the table battle royal in Under 13 Division 3! With only one loss apiece before Sunday, Mt Waverley and Murrumbeena Gold sorted out who rules the roost in an eight-point ripper. And the winner was… Mt Waverley, which kicked the only goal of the final term to emerge victorious. Jack Bridge’s three goals and Joshua Willmott’s two were sensational.

–    How’s this for a bizarre scoreline? Under 14 Division 3’s St Bedes/Mentone Tigers had 22 scoring shots to 11 at three-quarter time against St Pauls, yet trailed by four points. To avoid embarrassment, the Tigers straightened things up – slightly – in the final term to win by 18 points with a score of 6.23 (59).

–    Love the effort of Under 15 Division 2’s Beaumaris Sharks against St Bedes/Mentone Tigers… Beauy had chalked up just two wins prior to Sunday while the Tigers had 10, but if the Sharks were intimidated they didn’t show it. Angus Hill was superb and Callum Beattie-Powell kicked three snags as the underdogs took it up to the ladder leaders all day, but went down by eight points in the end.

–    Ormond flexed its collective muscle in Under 16 Division 1. Entrenched on top of the ladder, they saw off the challenge of third-placed East Brighton Vampires with Nicholas Haughton starring. Lurking in second is the barnstorming East Malvern Gold outfit, who conceded three goals in the first quarter to Hampton on the weekend, then NOTHING for the rest of the match!

–    Under 16 Division 2 gave us a three-point thriller between Ajax Comets and St Peters. With a name like Ben De Winter, it was no wonder Ben himself thrived in the conditions and helped get Ajax over the line…

–    Under 17 Division 1 always throws up some cracking games: This week, in the St Bedes/Mentone Tigers derby, the bottom-placed Red team took the points rather easily. Jordan Young’s five goals and Kieren Harbis’ four were just about the difference. We also had a remarkable final quarter fightback from Ormond against St Peters. The teams had records of 7-3 going into this one… And now you still can’t split them. Ormond came from 17 points down, only to finish with a draw. As we always say: sharing is caring!
