On Thursday 16 September the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) and SMJFL Community Fund Partner OpenCorp hosted a trivia night.
The night was jam packed with trivia, prizes and special guests. The aim of the night was a club vs club event to find out who is the ultimate trivia champion of our league.
The night was a huge success, with 199 participants registered and families gathering together around their laptops to join in on the night. After the event, multiple clubs commented on how great the night was.
Port Melbourne Colts Junior Football Club Secretary Annette Maloney said, “Congratulations on the trivia night, it broke the lockdown Netflix marathon in our household. Our club appreciates the effort that went into organising the night.”
And Oakleigh JFC Secretary Melita Keywood said, “Thanks for organising the trivia night. It was a great opportunity for our family to engage in fun activity together.”
In the end it was Beaumaris Football Club who took the cake with a total of 3173 points and $2,500 for first place, followed very closely by East Sandringham Junior Football Club with 3163 points and Ashwood Junior Football Club with 3133 points.
Individually, Clare McMahon from Beaumaris Football Club shone, answering a massive 50 out of 56 questions correctly and finishing in first place! Winning a Marvel Corporate Box experience donated by OpenCorp. In second place Liz Phibbs from Waverley Park Hawks Junior Football Club took home a Zena Z1 Protection Vest, donated by Zena Sports and third place went to Ben Phibbs also from Waverley Park Hawks Junior Football Club who won a Sportsafe Australia mouthguard voucher.
The SMJFL wants to send a massive thank you to our Community Fund Partner OpenCorp for hosting such a fantastic night and for giving back to the league.
And congratulations to Beaumaris FC for now holding the title of “smartest club in the league”!
