The South Metro Junior Football League is pleased to announce new Charity Partner – TeamSports4All, who will partner with the league through the next three years.
TeamSports4All was founded in 2011 by two parents who noticed two boys watching on at their boys footy trainings, but never joined in. When asked why they didn’t play, they responded with their “parents can’t afford for us to play sport”. The parents then paid for the two boys registrations and uniforms for the season. TS4A officially became a registered charity in 2015 and in 2018 bought on volunteers to broaden their reach and assist more families.
TS4A currently serve many regions across Melbourne including Bayside, Stonnington, Port Philip, Maroondah, Glen Eira, Kingston, Frankston, and Wyndham and have assisted over 400 children.
In the 2023 season TS4A supported 34 kids in the SMJFL, and at the moment have 29 registered kids to support in 2024 across 14 Clubs. TS4A work closely with the Clubs to ensure kids are carefully placed to make sure they have the best possible experience. In addition to paying for their registration, they pay for their playing kit and equipment so they’re able to play the season like everyone else on the team. On going support is provided the families to help them overcome challenges and give them the best chance possible to stay engaged and participate in sports long term.
We’re thrilled to be partnering with SMJFL and can’t wait for all that lies ahead! Since 2011 when TeamSports4All began, we’ve been funding and supporting kids to play in the SMJFL, and to be connected and recognised this way is a very exciting step forward for our organisation. As we continue to grow and support more local kids, it’s fantastic to have our first formal partnership with a sporting league body, and with one that’s close to all our hearts.
Cameron Dare – Chair of TeamSports4All
TeamSports4All loves placing kids into clubs in the SMJFL as we always see them grow from strength to strength. It means so much to the children and their families who otherwise couldn’t afford to play AFL. This wonderful partnership between TeamSports4All and SMJFL will enable even more local families to get involved, which will literally change their lives. Playing team sports improves their physical and mental health, gets them connected with new friends, and this partnership will have such a positive impact helping those that need it most.
Simon Davie – CEO, TeamSports4All
“At the SMJFL, It’s About the Kids! We are an organisation whose mission is to maximise participation in Australian Football and partnering with TeamSports4All means that we have every opportunity to achieve this. The SMJFL is a cost-effective sport to participate in compared to other codes, however we know these costs can be barriers to some, and we are grateful for the work TeamSports4All does in breaking down these barriers and ensuring everyone who wants to play our great game is able to.”
Matthew Brown – CEO, SMJFL
