Under 8 Mixed Green – Hampton Rovers AFC Butler vs Cheltenham JFC U8 Schmidt
Sunday, 10:15am, Le Page Park Oval 2
Hampton Rovers AFC Butler and Cheltenham JFC U8 Schmidt will take to Le Page Park Oval 2 and pick up a footy for the first time in three weeks. The Under 8s will be up bright and early with an early 8:30am start, and will need to arrive brimming with energy as they face a brisk, chilly Sunday morning contest.
Under 10 Mixed Fire – Beaumaris FC U10 Mixed Great Whites vs St Peters FC U10 Fire
Sunday, 9:15am, Banksia Reserve
St Peters FC U10 Fire will challenge Beaumaris FC 10 Mixed Great Whites at their home at Banksia Reserve early on Sunday morning. The St Peters FC U10s will surely be bolstered in the contest by the news that St Peters alum Eliza James had been drafted at Pick No.29 to Collingwood in the 2021 AFLW Draft, and will draw inspiration from her long career with St Peters. However, their Beaumaris U10 rivals will be looking to sink their teeth into the competition as the season nears its end. Time will tell if the St Peters U10s sink or swim against this herd of sharks.
Under 12 Girls Div 2 (Modified) – St Kilda City JFC Inc. Vs East Brighton Vampires JFC Moran
Sunday, 12:50pm, Wattie Watson Oval 2
St Kilda City JFC Inc will take on East Brighton Vampires JFC Moran on Sunday afternoon. St Kilda City JFC Inc., currently ranked second on the ladder, will look to continue their four-round winning streak having been undefeated since their Round 4 defeat against Hampton Rovers AFC Sutherland. Both St Kilda and the Vampires will look to rack up their points on the scoreboard and gain some mobility on the ladder. Both teams are eyeing East Malvern JFC (McNamara)’s pole position. While St Kilda are yet to face the ladder-leaders, the Vampires suffered a two-point defeat against East Malvern JFC McNamara in Round 6. With both teams looking to boost their ladder positioning prior to finals and every point the difference, this contest will be one to watch.
Under 14 Mixed Div 2 – Bentleigh JFC vs DJFC Under 14 – Carter
Sunday, 1:00pm, King George Reserve – Oval 1
The undefeated Bentleigh JFC Under 14 Mixed Div 2 side will look to continue their winning streak against an also-undefeated DJFC Under 14 – Carter side. Dingley will be wise to keep an eye out for duo Charlie Grainger and Mark Serebo, who both booted two goals against Brighton Beach 14 Travers in Round 8. Across the field, Massimo Raso will look to continue his precise form in front of goal, having kicked four goals in Round 7 and two goals in Round 8. Sunday will be a defining contest for both teams. Either Bentleigh will continue to soar ahead with their percentage, or Dingley will snag the win.
Under 16 Boys Div 2 – Ajax Under 16 Comets vs Brighton Beach U16 Larkworthy
Sunday, 1:00pm, Princes Park – Oval 1
The Ajax Under 16 Comets and Brighton Beach U16 Larkworthy sides will travel to Princes Park on Sunday to battle it out for the top spot. Both sides will be upbeat after both seeing close victories in Round 8. After a brief break in the season due to COVID restrictions, the boys will be chomping at the bit to get a hold of the footy on Sunday – particularly Brighton Beach, who have not played since Round 7 on Sunday 20 June. Brighton Beach’s defence will need to hold steady to keep Ajax’s Jackson Becker out of goal’s reach, who has been a consistent team-high goalkicker for the previous two rounds.
Under 18 Girls Div 2 – Prahran JFC U18 G Suriano vs Waverley Park Hawks U18 Girls
Sunday, 3:30pm, Toorak Park
Waverley Park Hawks U18 Girls’ side will cross town to Toorak Park on Sunday to face Prahran JFC U18G Suriano on Sunday afternoon. Waverley will look to regain the momentum they saw mid-way through the season and get their names back on the winners’ list. On the whole, Prahran have remained steadfast throughout the season, showing great consistency excluding one Round 7 loss to U18 SPMJFC EMJFC Youth Girls. With a narrow margin sitting between the two teams, with Prahran JFC and Waverley Park Hawks JFC ranked second and third respectively on the ladder, now is the time for both sides to put their teamwork to the test and rise to the challenge together.
