SMJFL APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGER – CLUBS AND COMMUNITY

The South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dale Wain to the position of General Manager – Clubs and Community.

Dale has worked for the AFL for the past 9 years in a variety of community roles, including NAB AFL Auskick Development Manager, Football Development Manager (within the SMJFL region) and more recently in Community Football Operations. She also has over 25 years’ experience in education and training.

“Grassroots football is the foundation of our sport, and I am delighted to be in a role dedicated to supporting the great clubs and broad community within the SMJFL,” said Dale.

“I know the league well, having worked alongside many community members over the past 11 years through the establishment of the NAB AFL Auskick centre which grew into the Ashwood Junior Football Club.  There is so much potential for growth and development and I look forward to playing a part in ensuring we have happy, healthy clubs.”

Matthew Brown, SMJFL CEO is looking forward to Dale joining the team in July and said “we are extremely pleased to have Dale on board.  She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and will be an asset both to the SMJFL team and our community.”

“We know that our clubs are just beginning to recover from the impacts of the past two years.  Whilst it’s great to see community sport back, we know that the decline in players, volunteers and officials is making it difficult for clubs to bounce back.  Dale’s appointment is our commitment to working with our clubs and community to develop a stronger foundation for the future.”

Dale commences her role with the SMJFL on 7 July 2022.
