In an electrifying clash at Wellington Reserve, Waverley Park soared to a thrilling 65-point victory over East Sandy Rovers. From the first siren, the intensity was palpable, with both teams locked at 7-points apiece at the end of the first term. The home side found their groove in the second quarter, breaking away to an 8-point lead thanks to the high-pressure efforts of Cooper Negrepontis, Nikolas Christodolou, Isaac Deayton, William Rice, and Lucas Dellarciprete. The third quarter was a spectacle of athleticism and individual prowess as the Hawks dominated, extending their lead to a commanding 34 points. Their relentless attack of Franki Kroimidellis, who’s third quarter efforts were part of an individual 8 goal onslaught, left East Sandy struggling to find answers. The final quarter saw the Hawks keep their foot on the gas, adding an impressive 32 points to the scoreboard, whilst their defensive efforts kept the Rovers to only a minor score in the final term.
East Brighton Vampires 6.4.40 def by Mordialloc-Braeside 9.8.62
The Vampires started strong at Hurlingham Park, attaining an early 10-point lead at the end of the first term, igniting hopes among the home side. The second quarter saw a slight shift in favour of the visitors; however East Brighton were able to maintain a 21-12 lead into the main break thanks to goals from Jonte Crawford-Flett and Oliver DiCrosta. However, momentum shifted dramatically in the third term as Mordialloc-Braeside roared back into contention with precision and tenacity. Despite outscoring the Vampires, quick goals from Jack Kerin, Joshua Datt, and William Chilcott helped the home side retain a 4-point lead heading into the final term. The fourth quarter was a masterclass from Mordialloc-Braeside, piling on 5.2 thanks to bullseye accuracy from William Reeves and Josh Welsh, whilst East Brighton’s single major score proved too little to withstand Mordialloc-Braeside’s resilience and ability to capitalise on their opportunities.

From the opening bounce, AJAX set the tone with an explosive first quarter, racing to a 35-point lead. The home side continued to execute their game plan to perfection with precision and pace in the second quarter, extending their lead to a 66-points thanks to goals from Bailey Nussbaum, Ben Casper, and a quintet of scoring efforts from Eiden Pitt. Prahran struggled to find their footing against AJAX's relentless blitz, with the visitors only able to add two minor scores to their total. Despite the main break offering an opportunity to reset and regroup, the third quarter saw AJAX virtually seal the game, boasting a commanding 80-point advantage heading into the final term. Capping off a brilliant performance, AJAX kicked 2.3 in response to Prahran’s identical 2.3, securing a huge win that keeps the hosts in first position on the Monash University U17.5 Boys Division 1 ladder.
St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC 5.12.42 def Bentleigh JFC 3.5.23
St Bedes/Mentone Tigers came out strong in the first quarter, establishing a solid 20-point lead, setting the scene for an exhilarating contest. Seeking to make up for their lack-lustre Round 9 performance, the second quarter saw Bentleigh mount a spirited comeback through Willis Reidy’s two goals, closing the gap to 7-points by halftime. The home side responded to Bentleigh’s test immediately as the third quarter unfolded, as St Bedes/Mentone Tigers began to pull away again, increasing their lead to 20 points despite some inaccurate kicking. Bentleigh struggled to find their rhythm inside 50, which was capitalised on by the Tigers in the final term. The fourth quarter saw the hosts seal the deal, with one goal apiece from both sides concluding the fixture at 42-23. Notable performers for St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC included Luca Scott, Archie Hooper-Duffy, Keanu Nadji, Mitchell Reed, Jack Walker, and Addison Nolan.

St Kilda City 2.2.14 def by Beaumaris Sharks 10.8.68 (Round 9 Reschedule)
A delayed fixture proved no obstacle for Beaumaris, as the Sharks cruised smoothly to a win under lights at Wattie Watson Oval against St Kilda City. A 6-goal haul in the first quarter was pivotal in establishing a comfortable lead for the Sharks, whilst their defensive efforts prevented St Kilda from converting any score. Despite facing a steep uphill battle against an inform Beaumaris side, St Kilda fought valiantly to reduce the deficit into the second and third term. However, the trading of scores between the two sides for the remainder of the fixture saw Beaumaris run away into the final term, closing out a 54-point win away from home.
Beaumaris Sharks 3.3.21 def by Fitzroy 8.10.58
After falling short in their previous fixture, Fitzroy returned and sought to remain hot on the tails of Prahran who led the SMJFL X YJFL U18 Youth Girls Competition. To do so, Fitzroy were presented the challenge of overcoming a Beaumaris side who had executed an emphatic victory just four nights prior. From the outset, Fitzroy showcased their strength and set the tone for a high-energy encounter, edging the visitors Beaumaris 13-7 at the end of the first term. Beaumaris fought hard to stay in contention throughout the second, however Fitzroy's relentless attack proved challenging to contain as they extended their lead to 13 points at the main break. Capitalising on every opportunity with precision, a quick rush of consecutive goals at the start of the third quarter saw Fitzroy’s lead drift out to 28 points. Beaumaris managed only a single point in response, struggling against Fitzroy's solid and cohesive defence. Fitzroy’s early lead proved too great of a deficit for Beaumaris to overcome, as Fitzroy finished 37-point victors.
St Peters / Bentleigh 3.1.19 def by Key Comets 6.7.43
In search of their first win of the season, St Peters / Bentleigh welcomed Kew Comets to Moorleigh Reserve with the visitors endeavouring to secure a second win on the bounce. A game of two halves played out in Bentleigh; the first half saw both sides create equivalent scoring chances to conclude the first half 3.1 against 4.4 in favour of the Comets, whilst the second half saw the visitors sail away without question. The Comets’ midfield prowess proved too tough to tame for St Peters / Bentleigh, resulting in Ebony Jago, Rachel Pereira, Grace Prendergast, and Millie Spiden taking their chances in front of goal. Equally as commendable was the Comets defensive performance which kept St Peters / Bentleigh to no scoring conversions in the penultimate and final term, propelling the visitors towards a 24-point win away from home.
St Kilda City 1.2.8 def by Banyule 9.5.59
Banyule delivered a commanding performance against St Kilda City, securing a decisive 51-point victory, their first of the SMJFL X YJFL U18 Youth Girls Competition. Banyule dominated from the outset, leading by 20 points at the end of the first quarter. The visitors maintained their momentum in the second quarter, extending their lead to 39 points, largely attributable to the standout performances of Alexandra Carroll and Hayley Pinner. Despite a resilient defensive effort from St Kilda, Banyule continued their offensive onslaught, pushing the score to 57-6 by the end of the third term. St Kilda managed to add a couple of points in the final quarter, but Banyule sealed their win at Camberwell Sportsground with a final score of 59-8.
Prahran JFC 3.8.26 def Warrandyte 2.3.15
The second of back-to-back fixtures at Camberwell Sportsground as Prahran played host to Warrandyte, aiming to retain their unbeaten streak and pole position on the SMJFL X YJFL U18 Youth Girls Competition ladder. Prahran set the pace early, leading by 11-points at the end of the first quarter. Warrandyte fought back in the second term, closing the deficit to 6 points. Despite this, Prahran's consistent attack inside 50 saw them add two minor scores to their total and extent their lead heading into the final quarter. Largely thanks to notable performers Pia Juricic, Zari Mildenhall, Edie McLachlan, Lily Wallace, Macy Tyrrell, and Hannah Dowling, Prahran found their rhythm in the final term by adding ten more points to the board and wrap up an 11-point win.
