Prahran JFC 4.4.28 def by East Brighton Vampires 12.8.80

East Brighton Vampires returned from the break in surging form with a strong win against Prahran. It was a relatively tight contest in the first quarter with 2-goals separating the two teams. The Vampires began to break away in the second quarter kicking 2.5 and only allowed Prahran to get through 1-goal. The brilliant defence from the Vampires in the third saw Prahran only kick a minor score, while the Vampires attacked the scoreboard to lead 68-19 heading into the final quarter. Prahran were able to slow the scoring of the Vampires in the final term however, the Vampires proved way too strong recording a 52-point win to remain 2nd on the ladder.

 

Bentleigh JFC 2.6.18 def by AJAC JFC 14.13.97

The wet conditions didn’t phase AJAX on Sunday at Bentleigh Reserve as their unbeaten run in 2024 continued with a 79-point win over Bentleigh. AJAX never looked like losing from the first bounce and held Bentleigh to 2.3 in the first half, while adding 7.6 to the scoreboard themselves. Bentleigh were unable to stop AJAX in defence as they went on to kick 5.3 in the third quarter. AJAX went into the final term with an enormous 58-point lead and only added to it for the final 20 minutes, recording a 97-18 win. AJAX’s attack was led by Bailey Bussbaum all afternoon who booted 4-goals in the game.

 

Waverley Park Hawks 3.7.25 def by Mordialloc-Braeside 7.7.49

A slow start proved to be costly for the Waverley Park Hawks as they only managed a minor score in the first quarter to Mordialloc-Braeside’s 3.2. The Hawks were able to claw back the deficit slightly in the second only allowing Mordi-Brae to score 7-points however, some wayward kicking still saw them trail by 16-points at the half. Mordi-Brae gathered momentum in the third quarter and extended their lead out to 42-19. It was a tight tussle in the final quarter, but Mordi-Brae held on to record a 4-goal win at Wellington Reserve.

 

 

 

SMJFL X YJFL U18 Youth Girls Competition

 

St Peters/Bentleigh 1.1.7 def by Prahran JFC 14.16.100

Prahran kept their top spot in the SMJFL x YJFL U18 Youth Girls Competition with a convincing 100-7 win against St Peters/Bentleigh. Prahran got off to a hot start, not allowing St Peters/Bentleigh to hit the scoreboard in the first quarter and led by 21-points at the first break. St Peters/Bentleigh recorded their first score in the second however, Prahran were going from strength-to-strength to lead 43-7 at the half. Prahran had a mammoth second half with Chloe Williams leading the attack finishing with 5-goals for the game. St Peters/Bentleigh put up a strong fight however, Prahran were eventual 93-point winners.
