St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC defeated St Peters FC



Round one of the 2025 season has opened with St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC defeating St Peters FC by 15 points at Mentone Reserve. From the beginning, the Tigers set a strong performance against St Peters FC with a 16 point to 2 first quarter. As the match went on, St Peters FC were back within 11 points to catch up with the Tigers' strong first half. St Bedes/Mentone increased their lead in the third quarter including an outstanding performance from Joshua O’Brien booting 3 goals for his team. St Peters did not give up; they got back within 14 points three quarter time to maintain pressure on their opposition. The home side’s midfield structure and fast paced tactics lead to scoring opportunities which were capitalised by their lead goal kickers O’Brien (3 goals), Gardner, Mastos, Herft and Fox all kicking 1 goal. St Peters stuck to their guns kicking another 3 goals in the fourth quarter to get the momentum on their side in a bid to get over the line. However, the siren sounded, and St Bedes/Mentone won 60 points to 45 final score. The home side finished strongly in the last quarter to take the win by 15 points. This was a great match for Round 1 of the 2025 season by both teams! Showing their true club spirits and passion for footy to play hard, work hard and importantly have fun!




AJAX FC defeated Beaumaris FC


AJAX FC has brought their A game to Round 1 against the Beaumaris Sharks at Princes Park. It was a masterclass performance from their star goal kickers Hugo Mack Krasnostein (4 goals), Manny Micmacher (2 goals) and Joshua Slade (2 goals) amongst others. The Sharks battled their hearts out each quarter to get goals on the scoreboard. It was a tough match, but the Sharks stood in their pride to fight to the very end! It was an impressive performance by AJAX FC who continued with their momentum through to the final siren. Well done Harvey Kenny for kicking a goal for the Sharks!



Monash University U18 Girls Division 1



St Peters/Bentleigh FC defeated by Beaumaris FC



A dominant performance set by Beaumaris Sharks was present in their match against St Peters/Bentleigh at Bentleigh Recreation Reserve. The Sharks held their opposition goalless at halftime. It was down to St Peters/Bentleigh to get the ball rolling and get their first goal of the match which Grace Bracken claimed for her side. The Sharks sustained pressure around the ball and kicking efficiency lead to capitalising scores by their lead goal kickers Amelia Hart (2 goals) and Bates, McPherson, Holland, Ursprung all kicking one goal during the match. It was an impressive performance by the Beaumaris Sharks setting themselves for success in round 2 against Prahran. St Peters/Bentleigh competed hard in this match, but they are now preparing for their next match against South Melbourne Districts.




South Melbourne Districts AFC defeated by Murrumbeena JFC



Murrumbeena roared their way to success in the 43 point triumph against South Melbourne Districts. The Lionesses showed poise and efficiency in the first half with 18 points to 3 at the turn. South Melbourne fought hard to raise their wings to kick 1.5 in the second half. Although it was a tough match for South Melbourne, it is just a starting point and they’re ready to go for round 2 against St Peters/Bentleigh. The Lionesses showed their class, grit, and determination to the final siren. Murrumbeena ensured no stone was unturned in the first round win, highlighted by their star goal kickers of the match Lila Saunders and Grace McIntyre both kicking three goals each.
