2024 FINALS SERIES - PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY GUIDELINES



To ensure the safety of children playing in the SMJFL any persons who are wanting to take photos on camera equipment (this does not include iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet) for personal and/or purpose of your business or coaching or film on camera equipment or an iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet for the purpose of your business (e.g. athlete coach) or coaching during the SMJFL OpenCorp finals series must obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation. This includes obtaining or holding a valid Victorian Working With Children Check. To avoid disruptions throughout the finals series these guidelines help to ensure Clubs and community members have piece of mind in knowing that photographers and videographers are conducting their work under the SMJFL guidelines and in a child safe manner.

Important Information


  • Filming & photography in the changerooms will be prohibited using any camera equipment or iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet during the SMJFL OpenCorp finals series

  • If parents/Clubs wish to obtain photos/videos of players with the team cup or premiership flag this must be done outside of the changerooms

    • Whilst the SMJFL don’t have any specific policy or By-Law stating you can’t take photos in the changeroom, the SMJFL discourages this in line with clause 11.3 a) vi) of the 2024 National Community Football Policy Handbook which states the following:

      “ensure that any photograph or film taken of a Child or Young Person is taken in circumstances that are directly relevant to the Child’s or Young Person’s participation in a Controlling Body program and the Child or Young Person is appropriately dressed and posed”.

    • All SMJFL accredited photographers will not be allowed in the changerooms either for the purpose of photography & videography


  • The SMJFL will not be resharing any photos/videos that are taken in the changerooms during the finals series to the SMJFL Instagram account.

  • If any SMJFL accredited media are not wearing their orange SMJFL Accredited Media bib whilst filming or taking photos you will be asked to kindly put it on. If you do not have one on you, you will be asked to source one yourself, from the SMJFL, or the host Club. If you’re not able to source one you will be kindly asked to pack up your camera equipment.

  • If any persons at the SMJFL Finals Series are taking photos on camera equipment (this does not include iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet) for personal and/or purpose of your business or coaching or filming on camera equipment or an iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet for the purpose of your business (e.g. athlete coach) or coaching during the SMJFL finals series and they are not accredited with the SMJFL they will be asked to submit their SMJFL media accreditation form and will be asked to source an orange bib/vest yourself, from the SMJFL, or the host Club. If you’re not able to source one you will be kindly asked to pack up your camera equipment.

  • Any persons who wish to film on camera equipment or iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet for SMJFL use/business use/coaching purposes or take photographs on camera equipment (this does not include iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet) for personal and/or purpose of your business or coaching that aren’t accredited with the SMJFL, will need to fill in the media accreditation form each Friday of the SMJFL Finals Series before 5pm and bring their own orange bib/vest to SMJFL finals venues on Sundays.

  • Photographers/Videographers are not permitted to shoot inside the fence unless they have been engaged by the SMJFL to be an official photographer/videographer for the finals series.

 

 

Photography


  • If you are taking photos using professional camera equipment (e.g. Canon, Sony, Nikon etc) (this does not include iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet) for personal and/or purpose of your business or coaching you must have obtained or be willing to obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation and you must be wearing an orange SMJFL Accredited Media bib (or an orange vest/bib of some kind to identify yourself) whilst using this equipment at SMJFL OpenCorp finals series games.

  • If you are taking photos as a spectator on your iPhone/Smartphone then you don’t need to obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation

Videography


  • If you are taking videos using professional camera equipment (e.g. Canon, Sony, Nikon etc) you must have obtained or be willing to obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation and you must be wearing an orange SMJFL Accredited Media bib (or an orange vest/bib of some kind to identify yourself) whilst using this equipment at SMJFL OpenCorp finals series games.

  • If you are taking videos using a drone you must have obtained or be willing to obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation and you must be wearing an orange SMJFL Accredited Media bib (or an orange vest/bib of some kind to identify yourself) whilst using this equipment at SMJFL OpenCorp finals series games.

  • If you are taking videos using a drone you must adhere to any local council requirements for drone use. This is up to the drone operator to research and obtain any permits required. The SMJFL is not responsible for any breaches to local government laws in relation to drone use.

  • If you are taking videos on an iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet for the purpose of your business (e.g. athlete coach) or coaching purposes you must have obtained or be willing to obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation and you must be wearing an orange SMJFL Accredited Media bib (or an orange vest/bib of some kind to identify yourself) whilst using this equipment at SMJFL OpenCorp finals series games.

  • If you are filming games for any of the above purposes you must seek permission from both teams prior to the game (preferable before Sunday), if any team does not give permission then you will not be permitted to film on any equipment or device for that game.

  • If you are taking videos as a spectator on your iPhone/iPad/Smartphone/Tablet then you don’t need to obtain SMJFL Media Accreditation.
