Are you ready to start applying for your first job?

Options Consulting Group has been a key player in recruitment for nearly 30 years and we’ve seen our fair share of CVs. It isn’t always easy to know where to begin.

Below is what we consider to be a professional and effective format to follow. This layout makes the CV easy to read and condenses to only include important information that is relevant:

Biographical details

  • Name
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • The area you live – Be careful not to write your address!

Start your CV with a Personal Profile statement about what you have achieved, what you want to achieve going forward, what it is that you are looking for in a role, and what your hobbies and Interests are. This may also include short-term and long-term goals for your career.

In terms of structure; your first page should read as follows:

A professional/Personal Profile followed by;

  • Your Academic qualifications and training
  • Your skills
  • And finally, your achievements

This is then followed by a second page, which contains your Professional History. This should be formatted as follows:

  • Company Name (Bold)
  • Position (Bold)
  • Dates (Bold)

  • Key Responsibilities: (Bold)

  • Joe Blogs
  • 0453 746 987
  • St Kilda, 3182
