SMJFL has appointed Stephen Zayler as the SMJFL Girls Football Coordinator starting immediately.

The focus of Zayler’s role will be to work with the SMJFL and the clubs to further develop sustainable Girls football.

 

Zayler says he is looking forward to working with all SMJFL affiliate clubs to ensure their female programs are well resourced and looked after. “I’m excited to work with schools and clubs on recruiting strategies, getting new girls into playing AFL and identifying and developing young coaches, female and male, to coach girls teams in the SMJFL,” Zayler said.

Stephen ZaylerThe SMJFL is aiming to add an age group to the current Girl’s competitions – adding Under 9s to the existing Under 12, Under 15 anZayler is also a member of the recently established SMJFL Girls Football Working Party, which is focused solely on girls football at SMJFL. The Party will work with Stephen on implementing and reviewing league policies and activities around girls football.d Youth levels in 2016, and believe with that Stephen coming on board this is an attainable goal.

Zayler comes into the role with a depth of experience, including holding the South Metro Stars Interleague Coordinator role for the past two years.

He has also been involved heavily in development at Cricket Victoria, as well as operations and coordination at Toorak-Prahran Cricket Club.
