McDonald’s restaurants in the south east region and the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) are pleased to announce a two-year partnership that will see McDonald’s become Development Partner for the league.
Coinciding with the announcement that McDonald’s has become the Official Restaurant Partner for the AFL, the SMJFL partnership sees McDonald’s further establish its commitment to developing and growing participation in grassroots sport.
As Development Partner of the SMJFL and through the existing Mac Pack initiative, McDonald’s encourages kids to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through sport.
McDonald’s licensee Jamie Evans is thrilled to announce the partnership that sees 16 restaurants combining forces and resources to help to grow participation in the region’s junior football clubs.
“The partnership is a great opportunity for McDonald’s to give back to the community; we are passionate about football in the south metro region and look forward to playing an active role in developing the local league,” Mr Evans said.
SMJFL General Manager Jake McCauley said the partnership will enhance the league’s visibility in the community and encourage more young people to get involved in the sport.
“McDonald’s has long been a supporter of our clubs and young players,” Mr McCauley said.
“In particular, we hope that McDonald’s support of the leadership and volunteer awards will help to further encourage leadership amongst young players and reinforce a strong sense of community. Partnerships like this are vital to the continued growth of our league and our clubs.”
Comprising of 27 clubs in the southeast region, there are over 9,500 junior participants playing football in the SMJFL from the U8’s to U17’s competitions.
