The SMJFL is pleased to announce the venues for the fast approaching 2016 Lightning Carnivals. Being held over two action packed Sundays in August, the Lightning Carnivals are not to be missed.

The Lightning Carnivals bring together over 150 teams from teams from the under 8 mixed, under 9 mixed, under 9 girls, and under 10 mixed competitions to celebrate the end of their seasons in a round robin carnival. Every year the carnivals are a great community event, which all participants love to play in.

Once again the Lightning Carnivals will work closely with the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation to raise money and awareness for brain matters. Voluntteers will be roaving the venues with an array of fun activities and give aways. Purchase your RCD Foundation Beanie, stickers or try your luck to win a fantastic prize.

This year the Lightning Carnivals will be spread across four (4) venues with over 450 quick-fire games of football being played. The shortened length of the games and extensive ‘tent cities’ create an exciting atmosphere for all involved.

We are proud to announce the following clubs will be hosting the Lightning Carnivals in 2016:

Sunday 31st July

Prahran JFC at Toorak Park – Oorong Road, Armadale. Under-9 & Under-9 Girls games.

Bentleigh JFC at King George Reserve – off East Boundary Road, Bentleigh East. Under-9 games.

Port Melbourne FC at JL Murphy Reserve – Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne. Under-8 games.

Sunday 7th August

Bentleigh JFC at King George Reserve – off East Boundary Road, Bentleigh East. Under-10 games.

Highett FC at Highett Reserve – Turner Road, Moorabbin. Under-10 games.

Fixtures are available through clubs, so ask your Team Manager if you’re trying to plan your Sunday!

There is plenty of skill, passion and enthusiasm displayed in the Lightning Carnivals but there will be plenty to do off the field as well. SMJFL Preferred Partner Footy Card Xchange will be based at King George Reserve (Bentleigh JFC) across the two (2) weekends; giving everyone a chance to trade, swap and sell their Footy Cards. Just a gold coin donation to trade, come down and see Caleb and Riley at the Footy Card Xchange Trade-stall.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements covering the Finals Series venues including the U11-U17 Grand Final venues!!
