The SMJFL is very pleased to announce its League Football Abassador – Isabel Huntington.

As a League ambassador Isabel will give a high profile face and voice to the SMJFL and in particular the strengthening Girls’ competitions and talent pathway. The SMJFL is excited to have such a promising and inspiring young player to take us into the next chapter of football.

After Auskick, Isabel played for two clubs within the region, East Sandringham JFC and South Melbourne Districts FC, when the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League (MSJFL) was transforming to its current South Metro Junior Football League structure.

A talented left footer, Izzy caught the eye of the umpires in 2011. She went on to win the League Best & Fairest for that season, playing in the mixed competition with the boys as an Under 12.

Izzy has represented at Vic Metro Youth Girls (Under 18) level for the past 4 years (missing 2015 with broken leg). In 2016, Izzy starred for Vic Metro in the National Championships and with a Best on Ground performance in the Grand Final. In the grand final of the week-long tournament, played on the MCG, she bagged five goals, four in one quarter, and racked up more than 30 possessions in a game with 12-minute quarters.

Isabel was an important part of our 2016 successful South Metro Stars Interleague program as Assistant coach of our Under 15 Girls development squad.

The SMJFL Board believes Isabel is at an age and performance level to inspire many young footballers in our league, all the way from Under 8s to the top age players, particularly the Youth Girls competition (Under 18).

Isabel’s talent will be on show at VU Whitten Oval on Saturday 3rd September 2016 playing for AFL All-Stars NAB Youth Girls on the black team wearing her favorite number 4.

The curtain-raising game starts at 4.30pm. Also watch out for another SMJFL talent – Vanessa Lewicki (SMJFL Interleague coach) in the coaching box.
