Ladies, it’s time to build on your foundation knowledge of footy and level-up!

First started in 2014, those that have completed the Level 0 coaching course have described it as is nothing but supportive. Those who’ve attended in previous years really enjoyed getting out there and learning more about football.

The Level 0 Coaching Course is designed specifically for women who are keen to learn about the basics of football so they can contribute in a great capacity at NAB AFL Auskick clinics or junior football.

The courses are perfect for females regardless of whether they‘re keen to try their hand at coaching or umpiring, or just want to be able to better discuss the game with friends and family.

AFL Victoria Participation Manager Steve O’Donohue said the aim of the course was to break down barriers to females being involved in Auskick centres and junior clubs.

“The feedback we received was that women did not feel comfortable to jump in on a Saturday to take a drill, umpire a game or even have a kick with their kids in the backyard because they have had no experience in the game,” O’Donohue said.

“Through this course we hope they can gain the knowledge and skills in a comfortable and non-confronting environment that will enable them to play a bigger role in their child’s football development pathway.

“NAB AFL Auskick and junior football relies on volunteers, usually parents, filling important roles such as coach or assistant coach, goal umpire, team manager and time keeper, so having more women keen to help out will benefit everyone.”
