The ‘Community Cup’ will be on the line when Under 12 North teams South Melbourne Red and St Kilda City Black play off at Wattie Watson Oval on Sunday.

South Melbourne and St Kilda City juniors have traditionally played a curtain raiser game to the annual Community Cup celebrity football match between the Rockdogs (a group of musicians) and the Megahertz (a group of radio station employees).

The Community Cup game embraces grass roots community football and raises money for charity. It will be held this year on Sunday June 23.

The juniors match has recently been shifted from the event’s home at Elsternwick Park to a regular SMJFL venue on a different day, but the spirit of the Community Cup still remains!

State MP for Albert Park Martin Foley will be in attendance on Sunday, as will SMJFL Board members and representatives from the City of Port Phillip.

So get yourself along to Wattie Watson Oval and help celebrate community football this weekend!
