SMJFL in partnership with AFL Victoria are excited to launch our fun and tackle-free AFL Nines tournament for children aged 13 – 16 years!
TOURNAMENT RULES

Date: 10:00am – 4:00pm (depending on fixture), Friday, July 12th
Who: Participants aged 13 – 16 years (boys and girls)
Venue: McKinnon Reserve
Tournament Cost: FREE
Match Durations: 28-minute matches (14-minute halves and 2 minute half time)
# of Matches: Each team will participate in a minimum of four matches throughout the day
Team Sizes: Minimum 9 players per side. It is recommended to have 12 players
WHAT IS AFL NINES?
AFL Nines is a social, fast paced game of footy played with nine-a-side on a smaller field. Tackling is replaced by one-handed touch, games run for shorter durations and modified equipment is used to support new players!

UNIFORM
Teams are required to wear a unified uniform, whether that be existing club uniforms or simply wearing the same colour t-shirt. Active sports bottoms such as shorts or leggings can be worn and do not require unity. Participants MUST wear runners rather than football boots.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The AFL Nines tournament is designed for participants aged between 13 to 16 years.
Whether you’re an existing player or new to football, anyone aged 13 – 16 is welcome to play!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Please register a team via HERE.
The person that registers the team will receive the teams’ registration link to distribute across players. All players MUST register via the link prior to the tournament.
There is no cost to register a team or player.
