
Our club by club review of 2017 South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) season continues with East Brighton JFC next under the microscope.
- Participation
- 35 teams, including six girls teams in 2017
- Over 200 Auskick participants
- On The Field
- 12 teams participated in Finals, eight teams in Grand Finals and five successful in winning Premierships
- 13 teams participated in Lightning Carnivals
- Several high place-getters in SMJFL League Best & Fairest awards including Amani Karauria-Lunt (runner-up – U15 Div 1), Harrison Andronaco (winner – U14 Div 1) and Ned Maginness (winner – U12 Div 1)
- Dante Caruso recognised with the Coaches Award for the SMJL Under 15 (Pool B) Interleague side

- Brand new clubrooms at Hurlingham Park, with training and matches under lights at a brand new venue
- New scoreboard in operation
- Hosted SMJFL Finals
- Club mentioned in Federal Parliament by Tim Wilson MP on ‘R U OK? Day’ for their work in contributing to the community providing a social outlet for young people wanting to play football
- Fischer McAsey selected in the NAB AFL Academy and will spend the 2018 season being groomed by some of the AFL’s most respected names in preparation for his draft year
- Rod Lowe a nominee for the SMJFL’s Junior Coach of the Year
- Trent Dennis-Lane awarded the Youth Coach of the Year thanks to AFL Victoria
