Our club by club review of 2017 South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) season continues with Brighton Beach JFC next under the microscope.

  • 233 club members (18% increase) across 10 teams (up from eight in 2016)
  • Three girls teams with a new Under 12 already in motion for 2018
  • 97 Auskick participants
  • On The Field
  • For the second year in a row, the club was voted in the top 3 in the SMJFL’s On-Field Behaviour award
  • Five teams in finals, two in Grand Finals and one premiership with the Youth Girls successful
  • Six players placing in the top ten of SMJFL League Best & Fairest awards
  • Four club representatives in Interleague
  • Parent coaches in every team
  • Established the BBJFC ‘Style of Play’ from Under 8-12 and Codes of Conduct

  • Digital channels refreshed with an upgraded website, weekly ‘RooWrap’ and new Facebook & Instagram accounts
  • New branding and marketing direction
  • Excess football fear donated to the Have a Ball’ foundation to help kids in remote locations
  • Club ambassador Mel Hickey (Melbourne AFLW) presented at St Leonard’s College and the ‘Hickey’s High Flyers’ was launched
  • Coffee van from White Lion to support long-term unemployment
  • Ongoing future football pathways relationship with St Kilda City JFC
  • Supported ‘Battle of Brighton’ Dads footy match at South Road Oval
  • Positive year on the financial front due to higher membership and lower expenses
