Congratulations to all teams that have made it through to the Under 11-Under 13 Grand Finals this Sunday August 18.

The SMJFL looks forward to hosting 15 terrific Grand Finals at Meade Reserve, Clayton and Mentone Grammar Playing Fields, Keysborough.

The SMJFL would like to advise that for the first time, there will be gated Grand Finals in 2013.

SMJFL General Manager Jake McCauley said the SMJFL has been one of just two leagues in Melbourne (out of 13) that has not hosted gated Grand Finals recently.

“The League has implemented gated Grand Finals in 2013 for a number of reasons,” McCauley said. “First and foremost, it provides the SMJFL with the opportunity to access premier facilities outside of the regular SMJFL venues.

“Secondly, gated venues provide the SMJFL with an ability to control the behaviour of all spectators, to ensure the SMJFL Grand Finals are played in a safe, supportive and family-friendly atmosphere.

“Finally, gated Grand Finals will provide the League with an important source of revenue that will assist us in continuing to keep our annual club fees the lowest of all junior football competitions in metropolitan Melbourne, something we have been very proud of in 2013.”
