Brighton Beach held a special Auskick session on Friday 3 August, where St Kilda FC footballers Hugh Goddard and Oscar Clavarino surprised the kids and attended their training session.
Due to the cold and wet weather, the St Kilda stars ran some drills within the home & away rooms, helping to improve the Auskickers skills and develop their love of the game.
Brighton Beach JFC were thrilled to have the Saints players attend the session, a treat for all involved after their recruitment efforts this year saw their Auskick numbers increased by 50% for the 2018 season.
The Kangaroos have also moved their Auskick matches to Sunday’s, with secretary Michele Lyons saying the move has made the Auskickers feel apart of the BBJFC community.
“It has been a fabulous year for Brighton Beach with Auskick.” she said.
“Our games from Under 9s upwards are either on together with Auskick, or shortly after. It has really brought the club together.”
The Brighton Beach Auskick program is not just about introducing children to Australian Football, it’s about activating and developing each child, the desire for a healthy lifestyle and a positive association with our great game.
Though Auskick is over for this season, if you’d like more information on the program, or to register your child for next year, please visit www.aflauskick.com.au and find your nearest Auskick Centre.
