SMJFL Internship Program
Annually applications open for the SMJFL Internship Program to offer valuable industry experience to aspiring sports managers and those with a passion for any facet of the sports industry. These positions would be well suited to tertiary students or recent university graduates, or professionals wishing to experience a sports organisation.

Applications for the 2018 Internship Program will be advertised in January 2018, applications outside of this time will not be considered.

The SMJFL Internship Program runs four streams for interns to gain experience in an area of interest.
Media & Communication – media calendar, social media schedule, content production (website, social media, media releases, video), speech writing.
Corporate Partnerships & Marketing – identification of new partners, partner servicing (managing meeting, contracts, benefits, event invitations), management of renewals and signings, sponsorship fees and invoicing, marketing calendar, activation calendars.
Event Management – end to end management of events, functions (Season Launch, Presentation Night, Umpires’ Presentation Night Presidents’ Dinner, Government Forum), meetings (Secretaries’ Night, Presidents’ Forum, Coaches’ Meetings, Interleague Info Night, Umpiring Information Night, Football Meeting), match day events (finals, lightning carnivals, interleague, intraleague), risk management and OH&S assessment and evaluation, post event reviews.
Football Operations – facility audit (asset management), competition management (fixtures, registrations, best & fairest votes, discipline, results entry), qualification management (staff, umpires, coaches, trainers), interleague/talent program administration.
All streams will include exposure to office administration (phone, emails, photocopying, printing, filing, scanning), stock management, asset management, budgeting, business planning, project management.
The SMJFL Internship Program is a 6-month program with a commitment of 8 hours per week in the SMJFL office (or equivalent). While there is minimum expectations, in-office hours can be tailored to fit around existing education, employment and other personal commitments.

The SMJFL has strictly limited capacity for secondary school students wishing to complete work experience hours in the SMJFL office.
