Another action-packed round of SMJFL footy awaits this Sunday, with finals edging ever closer.
With this weekend being ‘Love The Game’ Round, it’s important to remember to #LoveTheGameNotTheOdds and that sports and gambling don’t have to go together.
Here’s the Round 9 Pepper Money Preview, thanks to Pepper Money.
Under 18 Girls Division 1 – East Brighton Vampires vs St Peters
Sunday 3.00pm, Moorleigh Reserve
Both sides are looking for their second win and that opportunity comes at Moorleigh Reserve on Sunday. With St Peters sitting in fourth sport and the Vampires in fifth, the winner will have a leg up on trying to secure their finals spot.
Under 18 Girls Division 2 – St Kilda City vs Mordialloc Braeside
Sunday 10.30am, Peanut Farm
An undefeated Mordialloc Braeside faces a stern test from St Kilda City at Peanut Farm on Sunday. City are in good form after easily accounting for East Brighton Vampires last week, so the Mustangs will need to be up for the contest.
Under 17 Boys Division 1 – East Sandringham Rovers vs Beaumaris
Sunday 3.15pm, Boss James Reserve
One team will end their winless streak on Sunday as the Rovers and Sharks go at it at Boss James Reserve. Having come up against strong opposition in recent weeks, this match is a chance to play some free-flowing football.
Under 17 Boys Division 2 – Oakleigh vs Cheltenham
Sunday 12.30pm, W.A Scammell Reserve
Oakleigh has the chance to overtake Cheltenham on the Division 2 ladder on Sunday if they can secure a win over the Panthers. The Dragons are in good form after knocking over Murrumbeena last weekend, while Cheltenham were also winners against Mordialloc Braeside. This is set up to be a cracking contest.
Under 16 Boys Division 1 – East Brighton Vampires vs Beaumaris
Sunday 3.10pm, Hurlingham Park
Beaumaris has the chance to cement its place firmly at the top of the Division 1 ladder if it can account for the Vampires, who currently occupy second spot. The key for the home side will be limiting the Sharks’ scoring opportunities, given they’re the only team to have scored over 300 points from their four matches.
Under 16 Girls Division 1 – Waverley Park Hawks vs East Malvern
Sunday 10.30am, Wellington Reserve
With both teams sitting at 1-3, one side will add their second W to their record on Sunday at Wellington Reserve. With both sides having very similar for and against statistics through four matches, it could come down to whichever side takes their chances in front of goal.
Under 15 Boys Division 1 – Port Melbourne South Melbourne vs St Kilda City
Sunday 10.30am, Albert Park Oval 11
It’s third vs fourth on the ladder this week in Division 1 as Port/South Melbourne host St Kilda City. The home side are coming off a loss to Ajax last weekend and will be keen to make amends against an in-form City outfit.
Under 14 Girls Division 3 –Dingley vs Ajax
Sunday 10.30am, Souter Reserve
Ajax will be looking to notch up their first win in Division 3 when they travel to Souter Reserve to take on Dingley. The Dingoes were edged out by East Sandringham last week and with the prospect of a second win on the table will be keen to put in a good performance.
U14 Mixed Division 1 – Hampton Rovers vs Mordialloc Braeside
Sunday 10.15am, Boss James Reserve
Hampton Rovers have the chance to stake a claim on fourth spot of the Division 1 ladder if they can overcome Mordialloc Braeside at Boss James Reserve. The Mustangs are looking for their first win while the Rovers currently sit 2-2.
Under 13 Mixed Division 2 – East Sandringham vs Ormond
Sunday 12.00pm, Chisholm Reserve
Ormond has the chance to put itself firmly in finals contention if it can defeat East Sandringham. The visitors have a 3-5 record which puts them fourth on the Division 2 ladder at this stage, and a win could separate them from the sides below.
