It’s looking like a wet and windy Sunday coming up for Round 14 of the SMJFL season and also the Under 8 and Under 9 Thunder & Lightning Carnivals.

Best to take a jacket if you’re heading out in the elements to check out some of these games!

Here’s the Round 14 Pepper Money Preview.

Under 18 Girls Div 1 – East Malvern vs Ashwood
Sunday 12.30pm, Darling Park

Ashwood will be looking to keep its place in the top four as they take on East Malvern at Darling Park. The Magpies are keeping fifth-placed Hampton at arm’s length on percentage and a win here could just about sew up a finals berth.

Under 18 Girls Div 2 – Beaumaris vs East Brighton Vampires
Sunday 3.15pm, Banksia Reserve

East Brighton Vampires will be aiming to keep its finals hopes alive with a win over Beaumaris. With Prahran already having a win via forfeit, a win would greatly boost the aspirations of the Vampires, who sit just 2.53% out of fourth spot.

Under 17 Boys Div 1 – St Peters vs Bentleigh
Sunday 12.30pm, Centenary Park

Top spot is up for grabs on Sunday as St Peters host Bentleigh. Both sides have lost just one game apiece so far in Division 1 and will be hoping to keep themselves in line for a home semi final in a couple of weeks.

Under 17 Boys Div 2 – Oakleigh vs Waverley Park Hawks
Sunday 3.10pm, W.A Scammell Reserve

It’s hard not to be captivated by the form of the Waverley Park Hawks, who have been white hot for a month now, amassing huge scores against some quality opposition. They can deal a blow to Oakleigh’s hold on fourth spot with a win at W.A Scammell Reserve on Sunday.

Under 16 Boys Div 3 – St Paul’s Highett Doggies vs East Malvern
Sunday 3.10pm, McKinnon Reserve

With the Doggies locked in for finals and East Malvern two games clear in fourth, both teams will be looking to wheel out some of their best football on Sunday at McKinnon Reserve. The Doggies have rarely put a foot wrong this year, with just two losses and a draw alongside six wins.

Under 16 Girls Div 2 – Mordialloc Braeside vs Cheltenham
Sunday 3.45pm, Walter Galt Reserve

Mordialloc Braeside can all but put an end to Cheltenham’s finals push if they can get a win at Walter Galt Reserve. The Mustangs will go in as the fancied side, sitting on top of the table with seven wins to their name so far in Division 2.

Under 15 Boys Div 2 – St Paul’s McKinnon vs St Bedes/Mentone Tigers
Sunday 1.20pm, McKinnon Reserve

St Paul’s McKinnon will be aiming to extend its perfect season to date as they host St Bedes/Mentone. The Demons have won nine games straight and sit comfortably at the top of the Division 2 ladder, but the Tigers will be keen to take it up to the competition front runners.

Under 14 Girls Div 1 – Mordialloc Braeside vs East Brighton Vampires
Sunday 2.20pm, Walter Galt Reserve

East Brighton Vampires will also be looking to keep its faultless season going as they come up against Mordialloc Braeside. It will be a tough contest, with the Mustangs having only dropped two games themselves to this point of the season.

Under 14 Mixed Div 1 – East Sandringham vs East Malvern
Sunday 10.30am, Chisholm Reserve

The race to the top four will become a lot clearer on Sunday and this game is one of three where a team which is 5-4 will feature. These last two rounds are crucial to East Sandringham being able to hold onto third spot, and a win here against the Knights would serve them well.

Under 13 Mixed – Brighton Beach vs Port/South Melbourne
Sunday 3.25pm, Brighton Beach Oval

Second meets third on Sunday at Brighton Beach Oval as the Kangaroos host Port/South Melbourne. With both sides already booking their finals tickets, Brighton Beach will be focused on hanging onto third spot, as a loss could see them drop to fourth.
