With just three rounds remaining to go in the 2019 season, it’s approaching the now or never stage for teams still looking to secure their finals ticket.
We’ve covered some of those games here in our Round 13 Pepper Money Preview.
Under 18 Girls Division 1 – Ashwood vs St Peters
Sunday 10.15am, Essex Heights Reserve
Ashwood faces a crunch game to keep it’s place in the top four as it meets St Peters at Essex Heights. The Magpies currently sit at the same win-loss record as Hampton Rovers, who come up against East Malvern in what could be a couple of top-four shaping matches.
Under 18 Girls Division 2 – East Brighton Vampires vs St Kilda City
Sunday 2.10pm, Moorleigh Reserve
St Kilda City will be looking to maintain its position inside the Division 2 top four as they come up against East Brighton Vampires at Moorleigh Reserve. Teams continue to shuffle around, so this is a must-win game for City.
Under 17 Boys Division 1 – Bentleigh vs Dingley
Sunday 12.00pm, Bentleigh Reserve
Dingley’s finals chances are on the line against Bentleigh on Sunday, with the Dingoes (fifth) sitting a game behind St Bedes/Mentone Tigers (fourth) on the table. Bentleigh have the chance to take top spot off St Peters if they can get a win.
Under 17 Boys Division 2 – Cheltenham vs Caulfield
Friday 7.30pm, Le Page Park
It’s a Friday night special between third-placed Caulfield and fourth-placed Cheltenham at Le Page Park. The Bears have the second highest percentage in Division 2, so the Panthers will need to focus their attention on limiting Caulfield’s forward line.
Under 16 Boys Division 2 – Bentleigh vs Ormond
Sunday 10.00am, Bentleigh Reserve
It’s a top of the table clash at Bentleigh on Sunday morning as the Demons go head to head with Ormond. With both teams having won six of their seven games thus far, this matchup could well decide who claims the Division 2 minor premiership.
Under 16 Girls Division 1 – St Peters vs Oakleigh
Sunday 1.00pm, Centenary Park
St Peters will be looking to maintain a grip on fourth spot in Division 1 when Oakleigh comes to play at Centenary Park. It will be a challenge for the home side, with the Dragons having dropped just one game so far this season.
Under 15 Boys Division 1 – St Kilda City vs East Sandringham Rovers
Sunday 3.00pm, Wattie Watson Oval
It’s a must-win game for the Rovers at Wattie Watson Oval this Sunday to keep the chasing pack of teams at bay. East Sandy currently sit in fourth spot, but are level on wins with East Brighton Vampires who would no doubt love to jump into the top four with only a few games left.
Under 14 Girls Division 2 – East Malvern vs St Bedes/Mentone Tigers
Sunday 1.00pm, DW Lucas Oval
It’s another third vs fourth matchup at DW Lucas Oval as the Knights battle to stay on top of the logjam of teams in the middle of the table when they face the Tigers. East Malvern, St Paul’s McKinnon, Caulfield and Brighton Beach are all level on wins, with Division 2 being one of the most hotly contested grades in the league this season.
Under 14 Mixed Division 3 – Murrumbeena vs Brighton Beach
Sunday 11.35am, Murrumbeena Oval
Top side Brighton Beach can further strengthen its premiership credentials with a win over second-placed Murrumbeena at Beena Arena. The Kangaroos have taken all before them this season, sitting three games clear on top as they look to run into the finals in red-hot form.
Under 13 Mixed Division 2 – St Peters vs Mordialloc Braeside
Sunday 10.00am, Centenary Park
Mordialloc Braeside can all but guarantee top spot on the Division 2 ladder if it can overcome St Peters at Centenary Park. The Mustangs currently sit a game clear on top of the ladder at 9-3, with St Peters a game behind in what shapes as an interesting clash.
