Ioan Robinson has been selected as the Monash Leadership Award winner for August after his dedication to the Auskick program at St. Paul’s McKinnon JFC.

Ioan, who plays for the Under 12 Mixed team, approached Club President Paul Smith with a desire to become involved in their Auskick coaching.

At just 11 years of age Ioan has exemplified maturity and leadership beyond his years, mentoring the Grade 1 and Prep Auskick groups. During the 2019 season he took up the role of head coach with assistance from his father.

Despite juggling schoolwork and his own football, Ioan was insistent on sharing his knowledge and understanding of the game with those progressing through the ranks.

Ioan’s ability to gel with the younger groups hasn’t gone unnoticed with Mr. Smith describing him as “a true up and coming leader in football and the community.”

A deep love for footy has connected Ioan with his group and has certainly heightened enthusiasm around St Paul’s McKinnon.  The club are very fortunate to have a youngster looking to inspire the next generation of junior players. According to Ioan leadership is about “doing the right thing when you need to…not just when it’s convenient.”

There is no doubt St Paul’s young star will continue to inspire his teammates, community and club for years to come.

South Metro Junior Football League and Monash University would like to congratulate Ioan on his achievements and wish him luck for the future.
