TRAINING: In 2018 the SMJFL is offering TWO training session nights per week. These sessions offer the same information and content. This gives umpires the opportunity to train on a Monday if they cannot make Wednesday due to other commitments and vice versa.
MONDAY March 5 – First Preseason Monday session: 4:45pm-6:00pm
G.R BRICKER RESERVE WEST – 99 ROWANS ROAD (MOORABBIN 3189)
Training will run every Monday for the year.
The SFNL train straight after us at Bricker Reserve, and the Director of Umpiring – Peter Marshall has welcomed our umpires to be involved in the SFNL senior umpire training.
WEDNESDAY March 7 – First Preseason Wednesday session: 4:45pm-6pm
MOORLEIGH RESERVE – 90-92 BIGNELL ROAD (BENTLEIGH EAST 3165)
Trainings will run every Wednesday for the year.
Training will be ONLY on Wednesday nights for BOUNDARY UMPIRES this year at Moorleigh Reserve from 4:45-5:45pm in the preseason and from 4:45-6pm in season.
UNIFORM:. In 2018 all of our umpires will need to wear either BLK or ISC uniform. Our squad will look similar to the AFL standard – green tops and socks with grey shorts with SMJFL logo.
If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact the office on 9553 5985.
We are always looking for MENTORS to help our newest umpires learn their craft, and support the more experienced with tips and tricks! If you are interested in becoming a mentor for 2018 please contact Cam Watts. Please note that potential mentors NEED to be able to attend training sessions, as we have to be giving the exact same information to umpires on match day, as what is being coached at training.
