6.45 – 7.45pm at Moorleigh Reserve, 90-92 Bignell Road, East Bentleigh (Venue change from earlier sessions)

Please arrive earlier if you can, the coaches will be ready to begin the session at 6.45pm sharp – activities will be provided for those getting there much earlier.

Please Note: All players MUST by now be registered with their CLUB. It is a condition of Interleague participation that all players are registered with the club they played at the previous season. Any unregistered players as of now will be released from the squad.

Next Under 15 Interleague Player Release: 19th April, 2017

As our coaching group is currently looking at the form of players both in and outside of our squad in club practice matches, there is no confirmed date for the next player release. There will however still be changes to the current squad as communicated at the information nights, with coaches able to bring players into the squad where necessary.

Thank you for your participation in the 2017 SMJFL Interleague program. This is our second release.

If you have been released and your name does not appear on the following list of players we are retaining, we ask you to reflect on the opportunity you have had to train with some of the best players in the league, led by some highly skilled coaches, improving your football and fitness. We also hope you have made a few new friends.

Please continue to work hard as our coaches will be looking at games over the coming weeks, and there is a chance you could be called back after the footy season begins.

Continued Development for released players

When you registered for the 2017 interleague program you were asked to tick a box for us to share your details with the Sandringham Dragons and other TAC cup affiliates.

If you did this, for the players released, your name has been passed to the Sandringham Dragons where you should expect an invitation to join (or continue)  in their Under 15 development program. If you are aligned to another affiliate TAC region based upon  your place of residence (eg. Oakleigh Chargers, Eastern Rangers or Dandenong Stingrays), then we will pass your name on in the hope they forward an invitation to their program with our full support.

We wish you well for the local seasons ahead and your ongoing development under your TAC cup affiliate.

For those listed and continuing in the 2017 SMJFL interleague programs,  continue to display the dedication and interleague values of (CARE) Commitment, Attitude, Respect and Effort  you have shown to date.

Please have someone take a photo of you in your club jumper against a plain background holding your name/club/jumper no. sheet (scroll down for downloadable template) and send it to us at footballoperations@smjfl.com.au if you didn’t get one done in the first couple of weeks.

2017 Interleague Information Session:

Thank you to everyone who attended our information night on Tuesday 7th February. If you missed the night, or want to see some of the information again, please click the following link which will allow you to view the presentation again.

Our thanks go to Ryan O’Connor, Talent Manager for the Sandringham Dragons for his time on the night, and his explanation of the Dragons program which is run in collaboration with the SMJFL, allowing our Interleague players to slide seamlessly into a high quality development program as they are released from Interleague, meaning they are able to continue in a high quality program all season if desired.

We were pleased that you were also able to be given information on the Saint Next Generation Academy by Jamie, Gerard and Sam from the Saints who attended the evening. This AFL initiative will benefit the 11-15 year old players in our region, and we will send you more details as we get them.

2017 Interleague Info Night Presentation

Photo Request

In order for our coaches to identify the players more quickly we intend taking head and shoulder “mug-shots” of each player. To simplify identification it would be appreciated if you could download, edit and print the following document on an A4 sheet of paper. This should be brought to the first training session you attend, we’ll take the photo of player holding the sheet of paper to identify them. If you have printer or computer issues, please CLEARLY and in large print write the information (given name, surname, club, jumper number, age group, height and weight) on a clean sheet of paper and bring that.

If you have any problems with your child’s photo being taken please discuss with us on the night.

2017 Interleague Eligibility:

Please note that any player who changes clubs before the season will not be eligible to be part of the Interleague squad. This is a new initiative designed to stop good players leaving the club that has supported them in order to find “better” football. We truly believe such players can learn leadership and help their club team improve by remaining at that club, whilst being able to participate in the Interleague program to satisfy their thirst for higher skilled football training and games.
