POST CARNIVAL FUNCTION:
After the conclusion of Game 3 we would like to request that everyone adjourns to the Social Club rooms at D.W. LucasOval (East Malvern Knights’ home ground) to celebrate the carnival and see our award winners recognised. There will be food for boys and parents, and the bar will be open (drinks at club prices) for a relaxing drink to celebrate the end of a busy weekend.
Presentations will include all Interleague age groups with some teams coming in from further away. Fortunately for the Under 15 group you will already be at the ground! We plan to do staggered presentations as other teams will be coming from afar. Hopefully the following is a guide:
Under 15 Boys: 4.15pm (will be at ground)
Under 15 Girls: 4.30pm (coming from Noble Park & Bulleen)
Under 14 Boys: 4.45pm (coming from Eltham)
Now you have collected your bag, shorts, training top, hoodie and socks please try swapping between yourselves if you need different sizes. We order a range of sizes based on previous experience, but don’t have the time or amount of stock to be dealing with each individual after training who needs bigger or smaller!
Please ensure you have paid the carnival cost before tonight’s training CLICK HERE to go to payments page.

Please make sure you are aware of the revised eligibility rules for Interleague. In particular be aware that if you get reported and found guilty you will be putting your place in the program this year AND next year at risk. CLICK HERE for details.
Under 15 TEAM SELECTION
South Metro Stars Div 1 and Div 2 Squads named for
AFL Victoria Metropolitan Junior Championships
We would like to thank all of the boys who have participated in our 2017 SMJFL Interleague program.
The coaches have enjoyed the many weeks training with this squad, and were enormously impressed by the development of each player. We saw the boys being exposed to a high level of training and competition, and saw them take it all in. It is important to note that whilst practice matches were a contributor to our decision, they were only one element of many observations (skill, teamwork, game impact, selflessness, coachabilty & leadership) that we made over the time of the entire program.
Whilst we are naturally happy for those in the final 50 boys (24 Div 1 Team, 24 Div 2 Team + 2 emergencies) selected, our minds turn to the boys who have not been named in the final group. Should there be more than 2 long term injuries between now and 19th May (AFL Victoria team submission) you may still receive a phone call from us to return to the squad. We are currently tightening our relationship with the St Kilda Next Generation Academy, TAC Cup affiliates (Sandringham Dragons and Oakleigh Chargers) and expect more opportunities for next level coaching to open up for you there.
We know all of you have worked incredibly hard. Our selection of the final squad ensured many debates. In the end, this is the squad we have chosen. Congratulations to these players.
We would particularly like you to watch your squad mates play in the Vic Metro Championships. Especially the home games on 31st May at Moorleigh Reserve and the 12th June at Basil Reserve in East Malvern. If you see us around the grounds watching games please come up to us for a chat.
Most importantly, we hope you have made new friends from other clubs, and once the initial disappointment abates, will reflect with a smile on the overall experience.
For those listed and continuing in the 2017 SMJFL interleague programs, continue to display the dedication and interleague values of (CARE) Commitment, Attitude, Respect and Effort you have shown to date.

2017 Interleague Information Session:
Thank you to everyone who attended our information night on Tuesday 7th February. If you missed the night, or want to see some of the information again, please click the following link which will allow you to view the presentation again.
Our thanks go to Ryan O’Connor, Talent Manager for the Sandringham Dragons for his time on the night, and his explanation of the Dragons program which is run in collaboration with the SMJFL, allowing our Interleague players to slide seamlessly into a high quality development program as they are released from Interleague, meaning they are able to continue in a high quality program all season if desired.
We were pleased that you were also able to be given information on the Saint Next Generation Academy by Jamie, Gerard and Sam from the Saints who attended the evening. This AFL initiative will benefit the 11-15 year old players in our region, and we will send you more details as we get them.
In order for our coaches to identify the players more quickly we intend taking head and shoulder “mug-shots” of each player. To simplify identification it would be appreciated if you could download, edit and print the following document on an A4 sheet of paper. This should be brought to the first training session you attend, we’ll take the photo of player holding the sheet of paper to identify them. If you have printer or computer issues, please CLEARLY and in large print write the information (given name, surname, club, jumper number, age group, height and weight) on a clean sheet of paper and bring that.
If you have any problems with your child’s photo being taken please discuss with us on the night.

2017 Interleague Eligibility:
Please note that any player who changes clubs before the season will not be eligible to be part of the Interleague squad. This is a new initiative designed to stop good players leaving the club that has supported them in order to find “better” football. We truly believe such players can learn leadership and help their club team improve by remaining at that club, whilst being able to participate in the Interleague program to satisfy their thirst for higher skilled football training and games.
The 2017 Interleague Eligibility rules may be viewed via the following link:
If you believe you qualify for an exemption from these rules please complete the following form:
Please note that Stephen Zayler has been appointed as the interleague coordinator for the Under 14 interleague program. Stephen will be the first point of contact for all player & parent enquiries. Stephen’s contact details are listed below:
