2017 In Review – St Peters FC

Our club by club review of 2017 South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) season continues with St Peters next under the microscope.

  • Participation 
  • An increase in player registration numbers by 45
  • 23 teams fielded in total (including a merged team with Ormond JFC)
  • Seven girls teams fielded across five age groups, including two teams in the Under 10 and Under 12 Girls competitions
  • Combined Auskick sessions with Coatesville with over 90 children participating
  • On The Field
  • Six teams competed in finals, three teams in Grand Finals and two successful in winning Premierships (Under 12 Mixed Division 5 & Under 16 Girls Division 1)
  • 10 players placed in the SMJFL League Best & Fairest awards, including five winners, four runners-up and one in third-place
  • Seven players representing the club in Interleague
  • Six players representing the club in Under 12 Intraleague
  • Two representatives in the SMJFL Under 17 Colts team
  • Two players representing Victoria in National Championships
  • Hosted three weekends of SMJFL Finals in new pavilion at Centenary Park

  • Off The Field
  • Over $2000 raised in funds for club charity partner One in Five throughout the year, helping raise awareness of mental illness
  • Achieved Gold Accreditation status – one of only few clubs in Victoria
  • Hosted Remembrance Evening with St Peters Parish pastoral partners to support players who lost a close friend
  • Vicki Durston awarded the Eddie Griffin Award for outstanding service
  • Rachel Matthews a finalist in the SMJFL Junior Coach of the Year
  • David Auld a finalist in the SMJFL Administrator of the Year
