Our club by club review of 2017 South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) season continues with Hampton Rovers next under the microscope.

  • 22 teams in 2017, with 180 Auskickers ready to continue to fill junior teams in the years to come
  • Girls registrations capped at two teams, with an expectation of 4-5 teams in 2018
  • 457 registered junior players – the largest amount in the club’s history
  • On The Field
  • Three Premierships – Under 11 Boys, Under 12 Girls, Under 17 Boys
  • Hosted SMJFL Finals at Boss James Reserve
  • Successful extension of the relationship of the relationships with East Sandringham JFC – four merged teams in 2017

  • Mazda announced as Major Sponsor
  • Multiple new sponsors, approximately $11,000 income from grants
  • Hosted 2017 Season Launch and Friday night football in unison to start the season
  • First combined ‘At Home with the Rovers’ and Hampton Primary/St Mary’s Primary Dads’ footy training/social night, conducted on the completion of the Lightning Carnivals
  • Rovers Friday night football continued to grow with strong support
  • Installation of new scoreboard at Boss James Reserve
  • Provided input into Bayside Council’s plans for Castlefield and Boss James pavilion upgrades
  • Launch of dedicated junior website – https://hamptonroversjuniors.com.au
  • Re-launch of junior social media, forging a strong online presence in line with the senior teams

  • #OneRover mantra developed and then adopted, from junior to senior level
  • Every junior team invited to attend Rovers’ senior match-day events
  • ‘Passion – Teamwork – Fun – Respect’ values adopted
  • Amy Perkins (junior committee member) a finalist in the SMJFL’s Club Administrator of the Year award
  • Ongoing support of community initiatives – Red Shield Appeal, RCD Beanie Round, Will Murray Match
