Last week’s successful opening to the JDL Strategies Lightning Carnival paved the way for round two to better it with attendance, enjoyment and funds raised. The second and final day of action took place across two main venues and once again there was wonderful support for the RCD Foundation.
The modified rules continued and the tent cities were an overwhelming success with the return of the Footy Card Xchange trade-stall for the second week in a row at Bentleigh’s King George Reserve.
Both the 10 Mixed & and Under 12 Girls categories gave the young footballers an opportunity to enjoy themselves, showcase their skills and partake in the event to support the cause.
Similarly to the opening day, key sponsor JDL Strategies were on hand to provide their financial advice at King George Reserve.
The venue’s games were split across 4 ovals and gave kids the opportunity to play with players from other teams.
The presence of the Footy Card Xchange trade-stall only increased their enjoyment as it gave them the chance to run around and search for the cards.
Meanwhile, Highett was the final location of the Carnival as the Under 10s braved the conditions to support the RCD Foundation. Despite the cold and windy weather, the kids had a great time participating.
Nonetheless, the two venues in Bentleigh and Highett rounded out a successful competition. The kids, their families, supporters, staff and volunteers contributed immensely to the Carnival with key sponsors ultimately ensuring a strong fundraising effort on behalf of the RCD Foundation.
